A compilation of many tracks composed between 2011 and 2017.
These are demo tracks, most of them having a raw mix and edits made at home, except Moduuuul which was mixed at kewax studios during the preparation of "touching cold" album (gallion's second opus). This track was eventually not retained because it was considered too different from the other tracks and mood of the rest of the album.
The songs often use microphone recordings as well as bass, percussion and even flute (skky, turrrn 2015).
Also my two daughters, Jeanne and Rose, have contributed their voices to several songs! Listen to the end of dr03 where Rose (then aged 10) is singing like in a punk band! I remember we used some lyrics from an Essential Logic album (we can hear "quality crayon" at 03:26 !). I also used real drum recordings material for this track (thanks Cedric and Frank!). Same for Impavid Wyt. I composed around these drums and mostly played live in order to fit to slight tempo changes.
Hello Wendy is based on a midifile from French composer François Couperin. Sorry I don't remember the name of this (master) piece. The noise source on top of the synths is from a diy noise box assembled by my friend Bertrand.
As it is about demo songs, the lyrics are not sophisticated and in most case means really nothing. Some may say they have come from the thoughts of a very drunken philosopher speaking a medieval English !
Many titles are proper pop songs (onnnn, tibber2, uuuuu, tes02, 6mars11, mix1222222, etc.). Of course it would be great making a recording and mixing session for them...
Some tracks are just interludes, some others are more "filmic", and voyceover is one of the rare electro track in this compilation. It is based on an interview of alec empire. I think this track has a very good overall sound, at least on my speakers system... 40 tracks is a demanding listening experience so listen to it in the background while painting, drawing, cooking, tinkering, knitting, socializing in real... !
Maybe I will also publish another recollection of earlier demo songs... composed around the first album of gallion... I will see and will keep you posted !
